David Austin Obituary
DAVID AUSTIN was born July 19, 1950 in Malone, NY and passed away April 1, 2016 in Pinon Hills, CA. His ashes and those of his wife, Bernice (nee Parr-Pearson of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), were interred at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. David and Bernice were married on March 19, 1980. She passed away on April 1, 2012 at Adelanto, CA. There were no children. David graduated from Franklin Academy, Malone, NY in 1968 and from the ATC, Canton, NY in 1970 with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a radio equipment specialist and later a production and systems analyst. He was instrumental in maintaining communication systems support for the F-105, F-4G, F-5, UH-1, and base Public Address systems. After separating from the military, David transitioned to Federal Service and learned the duties associated with scheduling aircraft and personnel necessary to support the USAF Test Pilot School (TPS) at Edwards AFB CA (NOTE: This is the base where the space shuttles landed after a flight). "Super Dave", as he was known by all the students and staff at TPS, ensured all aircrew were properly briefed and ready for all phases of flight training. His personal dedication to the mission and attention to detail as an operations scheduler in Air Force Materiel Command's busiest and most complex flying operation was instrumental in graduating over 800 test pilots and flight test engineers. David retired on April l, 2014 after more than 40 years serving the USAF in order to spend more time working on his vintage hot rods and enjoying the company of friends. David is survived by his sister, Janice Austin of Lakeland, Fl.
