David Campos Obituary
DAVID CAMPOS David Campos returned home on July 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born to Serapio "Henry" Arriaga Campos and Susie Cruz Campos on September 23, 1949 in Riverside, CA. Dave joined the Riverside Fire Department in 1972, serving for 39 years before retiring as Fire Battalion Chief in 2011. He received his Associate Degree and Certificate of Fire Science Degree from Riverside City College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Administration from California State University of Los Angeles. He was active in the Riverside Latino Network and Youth Education Motivation Program. Following his retirement from the RFD, he worked at Amelia Earhart Middle School as a Primetime tutor, where he loved mentoring students after school. Dave lived a rich and full life. Dave grew up in a tight-knit family and loved having his many siblings, nieces and nephews over for pool parties, birthdays, and holidays. Whether he was inventing games at family get-togethers, conducting family sing-alongs in the car, bowling with the Grove's bowling league, leading bucket brigade teams at the Orange Blossom Festival, racing jetskis on the River, voting on movie previews or working on his never-ending backyard projects, he found pleasure and joy in every minute. He had an infectious laugh and a giving spirit. It is almost impossible to picture him without his joyful smile. Dave was loved by so many for the hard work, joy, virtue and generosity which were the cornerstones of his life. He walked the walk. Dave's rich legacy lives on in Kathleen Susan Campos, his wife of 35 years; his adoring daughters Adriana Campos Woods and AnaLisa Campos; baby grandson Christian Woods; loving siblings Sandra Estrada, Henry Campos Jr., Joseph Steven Campos, Daniel Campos, Mary Schafer, and Martha Bradshaw; and many beloved nieces and nephews. We strive and hope to set the example for future generations that David set for us. We will miss you every day of our lives until we meet again in Heaven. As you always used to say to us, "You're Awesome, Buddy." His family looks forward to sharing memories, and celebrating his life with you on Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00am at The Grove Community Church at 19900 Grove Community Drive, Riverside, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David's name to The Grove Community Church.
