Delma Joyce "rusty" Topping Obituary
DELMA JOYCE "RUSTY" TOPPING Passed away with her husband of 53 years, her children and grandchildren by her side, on May 4, 2013 in Corona, CA. Daughter of Delbert & Anna Sullens, Delma was born November 3, 1934 in Compton, CA. After growing up in Ten Mile, Idaho, the family returned to California, settling in Long Beach when she was a teenager. At 25, she met her one true love, Frank Joseph 'Joe' Topping while roller skating one night & knew he was the man she would marry. She settled in as a wonderful wife and homemaker soon after they married November 14, 1959. Rusty and Joe, as they were known to those around them, had four children, Traci, Penny (Steve), David (Laura) and Linda (Ralph) and 11 grandchildren. Her faith was a part of everything in her life and Rusty and Joe first attended First Baptist Church of Garden Grove before moving to Corona in 1969 and finding a home and church family in First Baptist Church of Corona. Her servant's heart and pure love for others was put into action as she served on numerous church boards, led Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) for many years with Joe, partnered on the prayer chain and planned meals for funerals. She began what would become God's Kitchen from a simple dream in which she saw the homeless and needy in the community sitting down to a hot meal, a hug, a smile and a prayer. Her greatest joys in life were loving the Lord, loving her family and loving others. Her happiest moments were when we were all together, especially when we were camping or taking road trips. She also enjoyed sewing and making her favorite meals for her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Richard and daughter-in-law, Wendy. She left a lifelong legacy of joy, love and faith that we will never forget and will always strive to carry on. She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma and role model for all of us blessed to know her by how she lived her life. A viewing will be held from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, May 9 at Thomas Miller Mortuary. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Friday, May 10 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Corona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rusty Topping Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church Corona, wherein funds will be available to those in need.
