DIXIE ROSE VAN SCODER (MCELHANEY) Born in Indianola, Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma on Feb. 8, 1929, Entered Eternity on Sun. 4/14 at home following illness. Dixie moved to California in 1936. She was the youngest daughter of ten children to Grover and Lillie McElhaney. A graduate of the famous Class of 1947 at Corona High School, which produced a Mayor, Chief of Police, Superintendent of Schools, a school Principal and many Teachers & Stars; and Dixie was one. She worked 28 faithful years with Johns Mansville, a building supply company, and she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. Her grandfather was a Congressman for the Oklahoma State Legislature in 1907 and a preacher for the Church Of Christ in OK. Her parents were pioneers of the Corona Church Of Christ, where she was baptized as a young teenager. Dixie married her husband Bob Van Scoder on June 9, 1969. They lived together in the same home in La Sierra, CA for thirty years. They were members of Magnolia Center Church Of Christ. She cherished time with her grandchildren, sewing and bowling. She enjoyed parasailing in Mazatlan, Mexico, cruises in the Caribbean and Mexican waters, and she traveled with several church friends creating lasting memories of the East Coast and Europe. She leaves her beloved Bob; daughters Glenna and Luan; grandchildren Phillip, Dr. Kristen, Donovan, Kelsey & Elise and great grandchildren Phillip and Levi, as well as her stepchildren Lonnie, Dennis and Dr. Linda Van Scoder and many dear friends-all of whom she loved greatly. Service SAT 4/27, 11AM at Magnolia Center Church of Christ, 6160 Riverside Ave., Riverside, CA, with luncheon to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Dixie will be interred at Riverside Nat'l.
