Dolores Loraine Walker Obituary
DOLORES LORAINE WALKER September 2,1919 - March 8,2014 Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Mother-in- Law, Sister, Aunt & Friend. Born in Chehalis, Washington to Hubert and Sophie Kimbro, on September 2,1919, she entered this world loving life and loving people. She often told stories of her childhood and the fun she and her brother Edward had. They had little money, but they sure had fun. Her teenage years were spent in Los Angeles. She met the love of her life, Merrill, at the Ralphs Market, where her mother, and his brother John, worked. They married, then WW II came along. When Merrill returned from the war the family moved to Compton and then onto Long Beach where they lived for thirty years, raising their three children. At retirement they made the decision to move to Soboba Springs in San Jacinto. They loved it there and had a good life and good times. She got interested in watercolor painting during that time and it opened up a whole new wonderful adventure for her and Dad as they traveled, and she painted. One of her artist friends told me that she thought Mom saw the world through the eyes of a child, and I think that was true. She was excited and amazed about everything, she had a unique ability to really appreciate & enjoy the world around her. She loved collecting antiques, music, especially Dean Martin, taking pictures (she never left home without her camera), traveling, especially Hawaii. Everywhere she went was the best place she had ever been. She and Dad had a good life and a full life, they were married for 65 years when he died in 2005. Even at age 94, she still had her spark, she always had everyone laughing, her hospice caretakers were wonderful to her, and they had fun together, she took their pictures, and told them stories of her life. She loved her family, and we loved her. She brought love, happiness & excitement to all of our lives, she made every occasion fun. I hope each of us was able to catch some of her enthusiasm for life and appreciate the beauty of the world around us. She is survived by her brother Edward Kimbro (Pat); daughter Penny Peterson (Ray); son Peter Walker; son Tim Walker (Jan); grandchildren Chris Peterson (Barb), Jeff Peterson (Tricia), Jennifer Sweet (Mike), Jamie Zamora (Mike), Timmy Walker (Lacey); great grandchildren Emily Peterson, Brad & Ryan Sweet, Taylor & Jake Zamora, Even & Cole Walker. Her ashes, along with Dad's were laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery. The service was held next to a beautiful lake, just what she would have wanted. MCAULAY & WALLACE
