Dolores Louise Sherwood Obituary
DOLORES LOUISE SHERWOOD, age 79, resident of Riverside, California, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, due to diabetes-related issues. A Riverside native, Dolores "Lori" was born January 24, 1936, to mother Fran C. Harling and father, Howard Heath Harling. She had one sibling, Darlene. On June 18, 1960, she married Earl Dean Sherwood, (who preceded her in death, May 28, 2010), at First Christian Church in Riverside, California. Lori graduated from Riverside Poly High School on June 12, 1953. She worked as a legal secretary at Riverside County Probation Department. During their courtship she and Earl did sets and costumes with Riverside Opera Association and shared in the festivities at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire during their nearly 50 year marriage. Lori enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom who loved to sing and play Autoharp and enjoyed story telling. She was commonly known as "Aunt Lori" to the neighborhood children and was a member of the "Block Mother Program." She was also an active member of Jefferson Elementary School P.T.A., a loyal supporter of Sierra Middle School and Ramona High School Marching Bands and Drill Team Booster Clubs, as well as a volunteer for Children's Home Society and Para Ninos haunted houses. She sewed countless costumes for Ramona High School's Theatre Department in addition to many dance troupe costumes. Lori is survived by her son, Timothy Sherwood; her daughter, Page Blankenship; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Sherwood; son-in-law, Damian Blankenship; grandson, Matthew Sherwood; granddaughter, Emma Sherwood. No public memorial service is planned, (as per her wishes). Private family service will be held at time of her interment at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, please make contributions to Riverside Humane Society.
