Don Fruciano Obituary
DON FRUCIANO
Only 24 days before his passing, Don Fruciano was diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 cancer. Although his physical struggle was brief and he continued to walk in faith, hope and trust, he now walks in Knowledge, Wisdom, and The Glory of God!
His parents, Joseph and Margaret of Sicily & sister Josephine, arrived in Riverside, CA in 1928 where they purchased an Orange Grove. Don, born in 1935, helped build and was the first 4th grade student enrolled @ St. Thomas School. He also attended Chemawa, Poly and San Diego State. Exploring & traveling Alaska was his next adventure until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Stationed in Germany, Don was awarded sharp-shooter and worked in the finance office. Following his honorable discharge, he traveled throughout Europe for one year. Honoring & loving his Italian heritage, he taught in Rome, hung out at the Vatican and connected with numerous familia in Sicily. Upon returning to Riverside, he built his parents a beautiful home. Later that year, Don met his future wife, Elissa Eberhart. He was President of Young Republicans and Toastmasters, a Hunter Safety instructor for 30 years, an avid hunter, CCD & confirmation teacher at St. Catherine and St. Thomas churches, along with sponsoring the first Youth Group at St. Catherine. Don was a self-made business man and raised his two sons to be likewise. His four local businesses included: Twin Counties Financial, a machine shop, Fruciano's Home Furnishings, and a produce market. After his retirement, he was convinced by the business courts to be a Reorganization Consultant. Even after his stroke in 1994, Elissa & Don were blessed to be able to travel all seven continents. His favorite trips were pilgrimages throughout the world including: Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, Guadalupe, Krakow, and the Holy Land...JERUSALEM! Don cherished his Marion Movement of Priests prayer group and Blue Army. Every Saturday morning for the last thirty years, Don championed for the lives of the unborn which was his passion.
Survivors include Elissa, wife of 51 years; two sons, Michael & John; daughter-in-law Michelle and grandchildren Evan & Gianna will miss their Papa. Don's sister, Josephine Guzzetta, and her children Joe (Kathleen) and Annette (Norm) all of Riverside, CA, and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will forever miss this prayerful and reverent man.

Visitation is from 6:30pm-8:30pm on Thursday, August 24th, with Rosary beginning at 7:00pm, also at St. Catherine's. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery to be scheduled at a later date.
