1928 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Don passed away March 2, 2017 at the age of 89. The son of the late Ralph and Laura Pulsifer, Don was an accomplished chemical engineer who worked in the aerospace industry during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. He was instrumental in designing the reentry heat shield for spacecraft as well as other structural improvements for aircraft.
When that era ended, Don and his late wife Lee owned Airport Liquors in Riverside and Moreno Valley for more than 25 years. A proud citizen of Riverside, Don served on several city commissions. Additionally, he served as president of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and was a member of both Rotary and Elks.
After retirement, Don and Lee were very active with the Janet Goeske Center in Riverside. There, Don shared his love for technology by teaching computer skills to others. They also loved to travel, attend plays, and entertain with their wide circle of friends.
Don and Lee were married 58 years. They are survived by their sons Richard (Darlene) and Eric, as well as two nieces, Diane (Alonso) and Jennifer (Dan). They have three grandchildren and four great­grandchildren. Don was also preceded in death by one grandchild.
Viewing will be Wednesday, March 8 at the Sierra Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 pm. Graveside service will be at Riverside National Cemetery Thursday, March 9, 10am.
