My dad used to catch Don and I when we’d each pitch to him in our adjoining backyards. We were just kids starting out in baseball but Don could already “burn them in”. Dad only had a first baseman’s glove. I remember Dad stuffing a kitchen sponge in his glove when Don threw. Even as a youngster, Don looked out for and helped other younger kids. I’m not surprised he served our country with valor and was successful in sports and business. RIP Don.
