Donald S. Garcia Obituary
Born May 1, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA. Passed away Sept. 12, 2017 in Riverside, CA. He attended Poly High School but in 11th grade enlisted in the USMC and finished his education. When he retired from the service he received his AA degree from RCC. As a paratrooper and rigger in the USMC, he did a tour in Korea. Upon returning decided to transfer to the USAF because he wanted "to see the world." As a loadmaster he flew to almost every country in the world and was written up in the paper for loading the 1st 30 foot Atlas missile to be lifted by air. He received a lot of citations along with over 30 ribbons, some with battle stars and a few air medals. He retired from March AFB at the age of 39 and then began a new career as a correctional officer with the Riverside County Sheriff's Dept. until he retired. His passion was golf. He was on the course twice a week and participated in amateur senior tournaments and won a few. He was a loving husband, great dad and a very good provider for his family including his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife of 54 years Charlotte (Hesenflow) and son Don Robert preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen; grandchildren Zachary, Robbie and Kati; great grandchildren Aaliyah, Roman, Dylan and Jazzmine.
Military services will be held Thurs., Sept. 28, 2017, 12 noon at Riverside National Cemetery.
