DONALD V. LUST, 86

Donald Lust died unexpectedly Dec . 1, 2017. Don was born Dec. 25, 1930 in Riverside, California, the second of two sons. As a young boy he raised carrier pigeons. Don graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School and continued his education at Riverside Community College until interrupted by the call from Uncle Sam. Don enlisted in the Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean war. On his return, he completed his education at UCLA with a degree in Meteorology. Don worked for the National Weather service for 27 years before retiring as lead forecaster.
Don was a devout Christian who truly lived his faith. He was active in the church his entire life. He moved to Sun City Palm Desert from Torrance to live the remainder of his life in happiness with his wife, Ila.
Don was an avid tennis fan and played tennis well into his 70s. He was a member of the Sun City Yacht Club and ham radio operator for the emergency preparedness team. He and Ila played Scrabble daily and he was a fierce competitor.
Don is survived by his wife Ila whom he was fortunate enough to marry in 2008. They spent 10 very happy years together and it is a great comfort knowing they had each other. Don is survived by four children: Michael Lust, Susan Whitlock (Doug), Laura Montano (Steven), and Cherie Lust-Robinson. Don is also survived by his three grandsons: Eric Montano, Brett Montano, and Jordan Whitlock as well as two great grandchildren: Nicholas and Elisa Montano. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy, his first wife, Kay and his second wife, Betty.
Memorial services will be held at Sun City Palm Desert on Saturday, Dec. 9th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , Veteran's Affairs, or to the . Arrangements Entrusted to the Care of
