Doris Margaret Elton Staley Obituary
DORIS MARGARET ELTON STALEY Memorial Services for Doris Margaret Elton Staley, age 83, will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Evans-Brown Mortuary, 27010 Encanto Drive, Sun City, CA. Doris came into this world on February 22, 1929, the daughter of Charles E. and Evelyn E. (Moore) Elton, in Altadena, CA and departed to join our Lord on December 24, 2012 in Murrieta, CA. Dee, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Alhambra High, Alhambra, CA and attended the University of California at Davis, College of Agriculture. While attending her studies she also pursued her love of horses by continuing to ride and jump her own horse and learning to drive a racing sulky. There she first saw her future husband across the campus and thought to herself, "wouldn't it be amazing to marry that man some day," and her dream came true. Dee was a skilled, self-taught homemaker who brought to her children the gifts of intelligence, humor, teacher and friend. She also worked several years as an Assistant to the Home Economist in the SCE Demonstration Kitchen in Perris and as an Assistant in the Reading Lab at Machado Elementary School in Lake Elsinore. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elsinore she served many years as Sunday School Superintendent and as a Ruling Elder on the Session. Dee, a talented artist, life-long horsewoman, enthusiastic backpacker, avid sailor, and friend for every season, was a loving and compassionate lady who enriched our lives. Dee is survived by Richard L. Staley, her husband of sixty-four years; son David (Linda) Staley; daughter Jan (Les) Phillips; son Matthew (Brenda) Staley; daughter Carol Staley; daughter Gail (Jay) Stabe; ten surviving grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Interment of Dee's ashes held privately at Elsinore Valley Cemetery. The family extends many thanks, love and appreciation to Hospice of the Valleys, QualCare Hospice, Inc., Paradise Home and all those who shared their love and prayers for Dee through-out her illness.
