Dorothy Cable Obituary
DOROTHY CABLE Family and friends are grieving the loss of their friend and active Canyon Lake community member, Dorothy Cable, who died October 11, 2015 in hospice care at home after the leukemia she fought into remission more than a year ago suddenly returned. Dorothy Reader Cable was born January 11, 1932 in the family home in Bell, California. Dorothy met her husband, Ken at a teen dance when they were both 17. They were married on February 20, 1954. Dorothy, a Registered Nurse, enjoyed a long and distinguished career in nursing and nursing education. She was appointed head of the Department of Nursing Education at Downey Regional Medical Center where she taught LVN students. She maintained her nursing license from 1956 until her death. She was a staunch supporter of the Canyon Lake Travel Club, the Fine Arts Guild, the Woman's Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Emergency Preparedness Committee. Dorothy is survived by Ken, her husband of 61 years; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Becky; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jill, and grandsons, Daniel, Kenneth and Zachary; as well as her niece Marlene Frusher and many other nieces, nephews and extended family members. Services will be Saturday, October 17, at the Canyon Lake Community Church at 11 a.m. Friends may also attend the burial services at Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 20, at 10:30 a.m. Casual, colorful dress for both events is encouraged.
