DOROTHY ELLEN ROSELLA LAZIER Dorothy passed away on June 20, 2014 after a long battle with Dementia in her home in Riverside, CA at the age of 90. She was born August 16, 1923 in Towner, ND to Essie and Charles Herman. She was raised and educated there and graduated from Towner High School. She met Aldon Lazier in high school at age 13 and they became high school sweethearts. Dorothy was a freshman and Aldon a senior. They dated for 3 years while Dorothy finished high school and Aldon worked the family farm. In 1941, Aldon went to Minot, North Dakota where he signed up and was inducted into the U.S. Army. Dorothy stayed behind and attended Dakota Business College studying accounting and secretarial science. After that she went to work for Standard Oil Company in Fargo, North Dakota. In 1944, Aldon returned home to North Dakota on a leave and married Dorothy on April 10, 1944. He was stationed at Camp Haan near what became March Air Force Base in Riverside. They bought a house in 1948 and have lived there their entire marriage. They raised 5 children there as well. Dorothy worked at Mira Loma Quartermaster Depot until her first child was born. After her last child was in school, she volunteered for years at Magnolia Elementary School. She went to work for Riverside Community Hospital when her youngest child was in middle school as the Environmental Secretary and retired from there many years later. Dorothy was an active member of Victoria Presbyterian Church in Riverside for the last 60+ years. She loved reading and sewing. Dorothy is survived by her four children David Rodney Lazier of Citrus Heights, CA, Thomas Charles Lazier of Atascadero, CA, Timothy James Lazier of Templeton, CA, and Loretta "Loree" Ann Lazier of Riverside, CA. She had 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with three more great grandchildren on the way at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aldon Claude Lazier, her parents Essie and Charles Herman, two sisters Bessie Hager and Doris Kegel, and most recently her daughter Linda Sue Pratt of Reno, NV. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Victoria Presbyterian Church, 6091 Victoria Avenue, Riverside, California. Interment will be immediately following the service at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Avenue, Riverside, California.
