Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Billingsly Obituary
DOROTHY (DOTTIE) JEAN BILLINGSLEY Dottie was taken to Heaven on Easter after a long illness. She was born on Dec. 18, 1925 to Edna and Fred Vollmer in Cranford, New Jersey. During her adolescent years she became an avid sailor. She attended high school in Phoenix, Arizona where she excelled with her show horses. She graduated from Mills College and then married a Naval Officer. When their marriage ended she earned a Masters Degree in Psychology at Chapman University. Shortly thereafter she began her teaching career in the San Jacinto School District. Within a short time she became an administrator in Early Childhood Development and Head Start. Meeting Dick Billingsley in 1972 they had 41 wonderful years of marriage. They were soul mates! The love she gave in helping to raise his two young daughters was that of a true mother. Dick and Dottie were baptized together at The First Baptist Church in Hemet. They took up tennis and built a court in their backyard. Once retired they became investment brokers and spent many vacations traveling. They enjoyed Elder-hostel programs, along with several cruises and a car trip in England. They also enjoyed many adventures on their boat 'Last Fling'. Dottie was a wonderful and intelligent companion as well as a great sportswoman. She will be in our hearts forever. She leaves us for a better life with no more pain. Dottie is survived by her loving husband Dick, 7 Children, 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her caregiver of 15 years Gail. Viewing will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:OOAM followed by a Chapel service at 11:OOAM at Hemet Valley Mortuary, 403 N. San Jacinto St., Hemet, Ca.
