Dorothy Lee McMillan Obituary
DOROTHY LEE MCMILLAN, 83 of Riverside CA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Born in 1932 in Pasadena, CA, to Ethel and Carl Schmidt, Dotty was a pioneer in the world of polymer clay art and longtime novelist of mystery and suspense novels; such as, Blackbird and Deadly Urges. She attended Orange Coast College and inspired future writers. One of her favorite authors was Ray Bradbury who inspired her to "never give up" and keep on writing. Dotty continued to write up until the last few months of her life. In her earlier years, Dotty had frequently performed on stage at the Pasadena Play House; in plays such as, "The Bad Seed". Dotty was truly a remarkable women; born with a hole in her heart, she wasn't expected to live past her teens. The City of Hope performed the first experimental open heart surgery on Dotty and repaired her heart, which allowed her to go on and live a long and fulfilling life. She is survived by her loving husband Alvin McMillan - married over 64 years - and her three children: Debra Harvey, Micheal McMillan, and Kimberly Harris. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer Casillas, Christopher McMillan, Alyssa McMillan, Janel Espino, Bradford Harris, William Harris, Charles Harris, and Jennifer Harris and six wonderful great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the McMillan residence, 7060 Fireside Drive, Riverside CA, 92506 on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 1-4pm.
