DOROTHY (DOT) MERICLE Dorothy (Dot) Ann Mericle entered eternity on April 6, 2013. Dot was born April 6, 1928 in Chappell, Nebraska to Louis G. Heiliger and his wife, Anna Heiliger nee Grebe. Dot was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Chappell. She attended and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1945. After graduation she joined the Cadet Nurse Corp which was affiliated with the Lincoln General School of Nursing. In 1948 she was awarded her Registered Nurse Certification. As a registered nurse, she worked at Lincoln General for several months before she married Robert Dean Mericle in 1949. They lived in Chadron, NE for 1 1/2 years; in 1951 they moved to Whittier, CA where they lived for 44 years; during their residence in Whittier, Dot resumed her nursing career working for Drs. Redewill & Tishlers Pediatric Practice for 25 years. In 1995, they relocated their residence to Canyon Lake, CA. In 2012 she and her husband celebrated 63 years of marriage. After his retirement in 1984, they traveled throughout Europe, Russia, China, Singapore, Scandinavia, Portugal and Turkey. Dot is survived by her husband, Robert; three sons, David and wife Julie of Newport News, VA. Jay and wife Tava of Anaheim Hills, CA and Mark and wife Katie of Fallbrook, CA. ,one sister Laura Davis of Riverside; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 23 nieces and nephews. Family was an important part of her life. Dot was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lake Elsinore where she was active in assisting the Pastor in secretarial duties, sang in the church choir and was available to the several church organizations where she would create publicity for their many planned events. Her recreational love was golf, she was a member of the Canyon Lake Women's Golf Club. She and her husband enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to a duplicate group for many years. A private committal at Riverside National Cemetery will be followed by a memorial service to be held Friday, April 19, 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Lake Elsinore located at 600 West Sumner Avenue.
