DOROTHY VIRGINIA RODINE (RIDER) passed away peacefully at home on the morning of September 13, 2014 in Riverside, CA at the age of 88. She was born December 11, 1925, in Jackson, Michigan. Dorothy spent the majority of her life in various cities in California, raising her children in Riverside and its surrounding areas, and helping with her grandchildren in Big River, Paradise, and Vacaville. In her younger days she played softball, did quite a bit of country dancing and enjoyed hosting dinners for her family and friends. Later in life she spent many years "snowbirding" while traveling along the west coast by means of RV. Dorothy often enjoyed a good evening watching TV to the likes of Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw and wouldn't miss watching her favorite NASCAR driver Jimmy Johnson. She was a woman who was never at a loss of words and had an acquired taste in her communication with others She was preceded in death by husbands Gordon Rider and Lowry Rodine; her son Merle Rider and her great granddaughter Jasmine Van Steenberg. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family, daughter Sharon Acosta; daughter-in-law, Linda Rider of Big River, CA; grandchildren Robert Ser (wife Julie), Monica Van Steenberg (husband Jeff), Joseph Ser (wife Karen) and Waylon Rider (wife Amber); her great grandchildren, Anastasia, Kaeleb, Gabrielle, Ethan, Terilyn, Madison, Hailey Nina, Chloe, Lane and Liberty as well as her great great grandchildren, Zeth, Zayde and Zion. Also grieving in our loss are Dorothy's adopted grandchildren, Lacey Rodine, her husband Alan Meade and the rest of the Rodine Family. She was a member of Lakeview Chapel Church in Lake Elsinore, CA. Services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2014 at 10:45am, at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA. The service will be followed by a reception at the Lakeview Chapel Church in Lake Elsinore, CA.
