DOUGLAS CHASE June 25, 1931 - October 18,2015 Douglas Chase, 84, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2015. He was born to S. Earl and Loretta Thorpe Chase on June 25, 1931 in Los Angeles, California. He was the fifth of seven children; his siblings include John, Robert, Shirley, James, Earlene, and Kenneth. Douglas married the love of his life, Renae Sorensen on June 14, 1957 in the LDS temple in Mesa, Arizona. He deeply loved his children, Wayne, Loretta, Kirk, Carol, Marilyn and Sharon, his 24 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His love for his family was reflected in his service to his fellow man. Douglas lived a life of quiet charity helping both friends and strangers. He served faithfully as a home teacher, missionary, and worker in the Los Angeles and Redlands Temples. In 1997, he and his wife served a year long mission to Bermuda for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Douglas graduated from the Los Angeles School of Optometry in 1958. In 1959, he established his practice in the city of Fullerton and was later joined in 1981 by his partner Dr. Robert Rice. His optometry career spanned 45 years until 2004, when he retired. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, October 26, 2015 at an LDS chapel at 1510 Tabor St. Corona, California. Douglas will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery at 9:15 am, October 27, 2015.
