Durwood Gilbert Anderson Obituary
DURWOOD GILBERT ANDERSON Age 83, of Moreno Valley, California, was born on August 3, 1929, and passed away one day short of his 84th birthday on August 2, 2013. He was born in Jamestown, New York to Gilbert and Hazel Anderson. In 1951, he received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Oklahoma State University. He served in the United States Air Force in active duty from May, 1951 until April, 1954, and in the Reserves until 1962. Durwood worked as a mechanical engineer in the Aerospace Industry until his retirement at age 65. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He loved the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, along with reading, gardening, watching and occasionally playing golf, spending time with his family, and he was an active member of the Moreno Valley United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Anderson of Moreno Valley; daughter Melinda (Albert) Wagner of Moreno Valley; son Richard (Cindy) Anderson of Las Flores; grandsons Sean and Chad Anderson of Las Flores; grandsons Brian and Bradley Wagner of Moreno Valley; brother David (Nancy) Anderson of Jamestown, New York, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Moreno Valley United Methodist Church at 10:30am., and burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:00pm, at Staging Area 2. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Durwood's honor to the Moreno Valley United Methodist Church.
