Earl W. Gottfried Obituary
EARL W. GOTTFRIED ("I'm still vertical!"), Forever in our hearts with admiration and respectage 93, resided in Riverside, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2015 at Elizabeth's Care, his loving home for the past three years. Earl was born in Republic, Ohio on 12/6/21; graduated Bloomville High School in 1939. At a young age, sawdust and woodchips began to shape his passion for building, while working at his father's Bloomville Lumber Company. Earl joined the U.S. Army in 1942, serving in WWII as PFC; was inducted as a Paratrooper into the 17th Airborne which merged with the 82nd Airborne, earning a Purple Heart, three bronze stars and several other decorations and citations; honorable discharge in 1946. He resided in Florida; moved to Riverside, CA in 1961; worked as a general contractor until 1976, when he opened his doors of Amigo Showroom of Southern California, later known as Creative Mobility. Earl retired in 2001, enjoying many years as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and animal lover. Preceded in death by brother Gene and wife Barbara. Survived by son Larry/(Verlay) of Lakewood, CO and daughters Linda Mercer of Sylvania, OH, Kristy Koch of Jackson, WY and Susan Gates/(Andrew) of Riverside, CA, four grandsons, one granddaughter and five great grandchildren.
