EDNA LILLIAN THOMPSON was born January 9, 1914 to Arthur and Alma (Pederson) Bell in Hayti, South Dakota. She passed away June 2, 2014 at San Jacinto Healthcare, Hemet, CA where she had been living since 2008. Since preschool, Edna was a musician; playing the piano with family, friends and church. After graduating from high school in Hayti then Schuyler Beauty School, Sioux Falls, SD, she taught at the school then was a hair dresser for years. She was married to Melvin H. Thompson of Estelline, SD on February 20, 1938. In 1950, they moved to Rapid City, SD, although they spent many winters in California and moved permanently to Rancho California, CA in 1976. They moved to San Jacinto, Ca, in 1984. They enjoyed retirement to the fullest and traveled across the states in their motor homes to Upper Michigan to visit Connie and family for 32 summers. Edna loved to watch sports on TV and was a great LA Laker fan. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hemet, CA and volunteered for years as organizer for the greeters and the after service brunch. Edna is survived by her son Craig of San Diego and daughter Connie (Larry) Julien of Chassell, Mi; grandchildren Robin Livingston of Menifee, CA; Rene McCarthy of San Diego, CA; Jason Julien of Clinton, Iowa; and Jonathan Julien of Houghton, Mi. She has 7 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grand-children and loved daughters-in-law Rosalie and Vicki. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 1994, her parents, and brothers John, Chester, Thomas Bell. A memorial service will be held for Edna at HTLC in Hemet in the Fall; she will be interred at the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery. The family plans to hold services for Edna in the fall of 2014
