Edward "Blair" Belden Obituary
EDWARD "BLAIR" BELDEN Edward "Blair" Belden passed away September 22, 2013, at the age of 81, of respiratory failure at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, California. He was born October 22, 1931, in Hollywood, California to Luther and Lucille Belden. Blair grew up in Riverside and graduated from Poly High in 1949. After graduation Blair enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went into flight school at Pensacola, Florida. After graduation from flight school, he became a Marine pilot and spent time in Korea during the war as a photo recon pilot. While in the service Blair married Darlene Harling of Riverside and resided in Cherry Point, North Carolina and Riverside, California. Blair and Darlene were married 20 years and had two children, Jan and Steve. After the service Blair spent eight years at Kaiser Steel as a blast furnace foreman. He then became an insurance broker and owned his own business, Calvert-Belden Insurance Agency in Colton, California for 40 years. Blair retired in 2000. He spent his life in the Inland Empire area. In 1975 Blair married his wife Carol and they had 40 beautiful years together. They resided in Calimesa, California. Blair is survived by his wife Carol; his daughter Jan Belden of Loma Linda, CA; his son Steve Belden and his wife Helene of Ridgecrest, CA and his son Carl Lufkin of Moreno Valley, CA. Blair is also survived by four grandchildren Hannah Hill and her husband Mike and Spencer Belden all of Ridgecrest, CA, Nicole Lufkin and Tyler Lufkin both of Yucaipa, CA. Blair was a brilliant man and had enormous humor. He was a commercial pilot, belonged to the Tail Hook association and the Elks. Blair loved everything in life and could talk to anyone about anything. He and Carol loved trains, traveling, motorcycles, boating and many other things. Blair was author of two books and sketched beautifully. Graveside service with Military Honors Friday, October 4, 2013, at 11:00am, at Stewart Sunnyslope Cemetery, 40 Pennsylvania Avenue, Beaumont, California. In lieu of flowers please donate to the VA Hospital in Loma Linda in Blair's memory. Graveside is casual dress and following will be a celebration of Blair's life at his resident recreation hall.
