Edward Shozda Obituary
EDWARD SHOZDA It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Edward Shozda, Corona, California, on Friday, September 12, 2014. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with throat cancer. Edward leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Billie; his daughters Lynn Hurst (Rusty), Conrad, Montana; Leslie Stalnecker (Mike), Riverside, CA; son Kent Richardson (Peggy), San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren: Torrey and Tyler Stalnecker, and Dale and Casey Richardson. Edward was born on October 9, 1932, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Anthony and Helen Shozda, who had emigrated from Poland and the Ukraine, respectively. Edward was predeceased by his parents and his brother John. In 1957, Edward emigrated from 'Winterpeg', as he liked to call Winnipeg, to sunny Southern California. He lived and worked in Orange County, Garden Grove, first as a stereotyper for several newspapers, then as an attorney after earning his law degree until retiring in 1981. In 1992, Edward and Billie moved to Corona, where they resided until Edward's passing. Edward filled his retirement years with family, especially his grandchildren, friends, travel, and as an active 49-year member of the Garden Grove Elks Lodge No. 1952. Within the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, he held many offices, including District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Special Representative of the Grand Exalted Ruler. He will remain forever in our hearts. A memorial service honoring Edward Shozda will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Garden Grove Lodge No. 1952, 11551 Trask Avenue, Garden Grove, CA.
