Edwin Conard Steckman Obituary
EDWIN CONARD STECKMAN Edwin Conard Steckman passed peacefully from this life on August 6, 2015 at the age of 89, at home surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in San Diego, Ca. on December 20, 1925 to Roy and Julia (Williams) Steckman, where he lived most of his life. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corp in January 1944 where he became an armorer/gunner on B-26's flying over Europe until the end of the war. He was awarded many medals including the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, and the French medal of high honor, the Croix de Guerre. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of SSgt. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Nancy Carol Wilkins and had two children. He became a police officer in 1951 in Reno, Nevada, later moving his family to San Diego where he served on various police departments, ending his 35 year career with the San Diego County District Attorney's office. Preceding him in death were his father, Roy Steckman; mother Julia Silva; brother John Steckman; step brother Guy Noel; and son Steven John Steckman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Nancy Steckman of Sun City, Ca.; son Gregory and wife Kathy Steckman of Wildomar, Ca.; daughter Judi (Steckman) Broussard and husband Roger, of West Columbia, Texas; and sister Ada Vogeli of Clear Lake, Ca.; 4 grandchildren, Sherri (Broussard) Bailey, Russell Broussard, Timothy Steckman, and Steven Steckman; 3 great-grand children, Emili Pyles, Trevor Broussard, and Bryce Bailey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory of Sun City, Ca. Interment will be at the Riverside National Cemetery with full military honors, August 19, 2015 at 10:30 am. Another WWII Veteran Gone, but Not Forgotten
