ELIZABETH "BETTY" ANN (KATTARON) BATTAGLIA
Age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Betty was born in Masontown, Pennsylvania on April 1, 1941. Betty graduated from All Saints Catholic High School in Masontown, Pennsylvania. After high school Betty attended college and graduated with a degree in nursing. Betty married her high school sweetheart, George Battaglia. Betty and George remained happily married for 57 years. Together they raised three sons. Betty spent most of her professional career working as a nurse. While working and raising her family, Betty earned a Master's Degree in Nursing and a second Master's Degree in Human Resources. Betty worked at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, CA for over 30 years. While at Riverside Community Hospital Betty made many life-long friends and she received a number of promotions. Betty retired from Riverside Community Hospital in 1998.
After retiring, Betty would volunteer every Tuesday at Riverside Community Hospital and assist the staff in the recovery room. In her leisure Betty enjoyed game shows, board games, reading, cooking, and her Monday Mah Jongg group. One of Betty's favorite past times was beating all of her sons at Jeopardy.
Betty was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was a caring person and was loved by everyone. Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband George and together they managed to explore and visit all 50 states. Betty also loved to go on cruises and she visited several foreign countries during her lifetime.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John Kattaron and Helen Yelenosky. Betty is survived by her loving husband George Battaglia; three sons and their wives, John and Julie of Riverside, CA., Jeffrey and Kelly of Alpharetta, GA, and David and Lisa of Boise, ID. In addition, she is survived by six grandsons and two granddaughters. Also surviving is her brother Tom Kattaron and Marlene of Acworth, GA., along with many nieces and nephews. Betty was greatly loved by her family and friends and she will be deeply missed.
The Battaglia's invite friends and family to celebrate Betty's life on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 7050 Brockton Ave., Riverside, CA. Graveside services to follow at 12:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
