Ellis Franklin Sparks Obituary
Age 80 passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home in Sun City, CA of congestive heart failure. Frank was born in Banning, California to Ellis F. Sparks and Ettie Louise Armstrong on July 3, 1936. He was employed at the Riverside United States Postal Service for 33 years retiring as Supervisor of Buildings and Operations. After his retirement he worked at St. Andrews Newman Center in charge of buildings and grounds for 12 years. For many years Frank was involved with youth sports in Riverside coaching baseball, football and basketball. Frank was one of the founders and builders of the first little league baseball field at Bryant Park in Arlanza, CA. He was an ardent four wheeler with the Riverside Rough Riders and Hill and Gully Riders roaming the mountain and desert areas. Frank also started a Golf Cart Club in Calimesa, CA where he made many friends at Plantation on the Lake. Frank always had a story to tell as his many friends will remember. Frank is survived by his wife of 55 years Athene (Geri); his sons Stephen and wife Zailyn of Menifee CA and La Fortuna, Costa Rica; and Gregory and wife Robin of Murrieta, CA; three grandchildren Cassandra Witt and husband Bryan of Fort Irwin, Barstow, CA; Lucas of Denver, CO and best buddy Zachary of San Bernardino, CA; and two great grandchildren Riley and Gage Witt.
Services will be held at St. Andrews Newman Center on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 9 AM. Reception to follow immediately at the church.
