ELTON EMIL ANDERSEN Elton passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2016. Elton was born on May 4, 1922, in Wakonda, SD. He was a veteran of WWII, serving four years in the U.S. Navy while stationed at the Pentagon. He was a resident of Riverside, CA since 1959. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1949 with a degree in accounting. He was employed by the City of Riverside Finance Department for over 22 years, retiring in 1987. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Christie Andersen, and Mark and Meleasa Andersen; four grandchildren, Eric Andersen, Amy Nilsen, Corey Lanterman, and Leslie Sasnett; and five great-grandchildren, Connie Windsor, Azlen Andersen, Ayla Andersen, Trevor Nilsen, and Alexandra Nilsen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Ruby Andersen, and their daughter, Connie Trujillo. He was an active member of the Arlington Avenue Church of the Nazarene for 36 years, and a former Sunday School teacher at his church. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the Arlington Avenue Church of the Nazarene, located at 5475 Arlington Avenue in Riverside, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd. A private graveside service for immediate family members will be held at the Veterans' Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
