Emilie Velasquez Dominguez Obituary
EMILIE VELASQUEZ DOMINGUEZ At age 94, Emilie passed away peacefully at her daughter Lori's home located in Cherry Valley, CA on May 28, 2015. Lori cared for Emilie at her home after her husband Roman passed away on September 6, 2012. Emilie was born January 17, 1921 in Redlands, CA and grew up in San Timeteo Canyon, San Jacinto, Fontana and Beaumont. Emilie attended St. Bonafice Indian School in a one room schoolhouse. She was from Gabrielino-Tongva Indian Tribe, out of Los Angeles, CA. Her occupations consisted of seamstress, school teacher, and most of all, a tremendous cook. As a talented knitter, she always knitted little outfits for all the new babies of the family and friends as well. We have many fond memories of family gatherings for the holidays at Emilie's home. One in particular was the great tamale tradition, when friends and family gathered at Christmas time to make the tamales. Her flour tortillas were the best, nobody could get enough of them! Emilie was a huge Dodger fan, watching them anytime they were on TV. She loved to hear Mariachi music with family on her birthday and at family parties. One of the most memorable times is when Mariachis came aboard the Carnival Cruise line and sang " Las Mananitas" to Emilie as she was celebrating her 79th birthday. Emilie was "MOM" of all moms, having raised several generations of families at one time or another. Emilie's family grew into a large circle of love that cherished her, and her love of family. Emilie was preceded in death by her husband Roman Dominguez and son Steven Dominguez. Also preceded in death were her father Joe, mother Frances, brother Frank, sister Lucy and niece Madeline. She is survived by her children Betty (Freddy), Evelyn (Thomas) and Joseph, Colton, CA, Robert (Lori), Hemet, CA, Ronald (Doreen) and daughter Lori, Beaumont, CA, along with brother Joey and a sister Dolores. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren and 49 great great grandchildren. We will miss her immensely and always cherish our memories and times together with her. May she be at peace and rest in heaven! Many "thanks" to her caregivers Martha and Vina, who cared for her and thought of her like their own mother. The viewing will be at Weaver Mortuary located at 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, CA 92223. On Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with Rosary from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass will be at 11:00 am on June 5, 2015 at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church located at 1234 Palm Avenue, Beaumont, CA 92223. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Beaumont, CA with a reception following at Noble Creek Park located at 390 Oak Valley Parkway, Beaumont, CA to celebrate Emilie's life.
