ENRIQUETA BARRERA GONZALEZ, aka HENRIETTA, also known as Henri, born November 1, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas married to Marcelo Gonzalez also known as Speedy, she passed away on December 22, 2014 at home after fighting a long battle with kidney cancer which she was diagnosed in 2008. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years; her three children Danny, Robert and Raquel, nine grandchildren and six great grandkids. She also leaves behind two older sisters. She was a volunteer at Jerry L. Pettis V.A. Hospital. Also, a volunteer dispatcher for the Memorial Honor Detail, Riverside National Cemetery. She was also heavily involved with the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries. She was a past president for VFW Post 10267. She was a Flag Bearer, Historian for both post 10267 and District 23, Ladies Aux. holding Co-Chairs for Prisoners of War/Missing in Action, Co-Chair for Loyalty Day programs and various other positions within the Ladies Aux. She played softball in Hawaii and at one point played for two teams on the same day. She loved traveling in her motorhome especially with the motorhome group "S*M*A*R*T" RV Club. The services are as follows: Viewing Monday, January 5, 2015 from 4-8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Rubidoux Mortuary, 6091 Mission Blvd., Riverside, CA 92509 (951) 683-2215. Mass will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 10:30 am at Saint Christopher Catholic Church, 25075 Cottonwood Avenue (Corner of Perris & Cottonwood), Moreno Valley, CA 92553. Graveside services will be immediately following at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518. Reception to follow at V.F.W. Post 9223, 10303 Arlington Ave., Riverside, CA 92505.
