ERNEST "CHITO" AMAYA, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Oklahoma's Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. The family will have a memorial service Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Corona Friends Church located at 1220 West Ontario Avenue in Corona, California. Ernest Martinez Amaya was born on April 11, 1924 in Los Angeles, California to Frank Amaya and Isabella Martinez Amaya. Ernest proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the 388th Air Service Group reaching the rank of Corporal. After his service he worked in the construction industry and for OSHA. He then went to work for the labor union with the Local 300 in Los Angeles as a business consultant before retiring. Ernest was a member of the American Legion and he enjoyed attending church and greatly enjoyed playing the trumpet at church. Mr. Amaya was very involved in politics and served as campaign manager for several elected officials, including Senator Art Torres of California. Ernest was a man of great faith, and lived his life confidant that nothing was impossible with God. Leaving behind a tremendous legacy of faith, Ernest is survived by his children, Annabelle Shafer from Hesperia, CA, Ernest Amaya, Jr. and his wife Eva from Covina, CA, Rebecca Zuniga and her husband, David from Hesperia, CA, Rubie Samaniego from Hesperia, CA, Rachel Lopez and her husband, Arnulfo from La Puente, CA, Carol Amaya from Hesperia, CA, Kenneth Amaya and his wife, Julie from Hesperia, CA, Richard Amaya from Hesperia, CA, Daniel Amaya and his wife, Lina from Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Arlene Amaya from Bozeman, MT, Nettie Amaya from Hesperia, CA, Sandy Stewart and her husband, Russ from Duncan, OK, Gabriel Amaya and his wife, Heather from Duncan, OK, Aaron Amaya and his wife, Crystal from Riverside, CA, and Ernest Amaya, Jr. from Riverside, CA; 32 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Three grandchildren preceded him in death, Robert Samaniego Jr., Alice Smith and Kenneth Amaya Jr. Burial will take place at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
