Eugene Robert (Gene) Jaso Obituary
EUGENE (GENE) ROBERT JASO "Moggie" August 15, 1951 - May 20, 2013 Gene, born in the old Corona Community Hospital and a lifetime resident of Corona, passed on to his Lord and eternal reward on May 20, 2013 after a lengthy battle with complications from surgery in December 2011. Gene, the son of Eugenio and Valentina Jaso, attended Kimball Elementary, Raney Junior High and Corona High Schools. Because of his love of the outdoors and working with this hands, as a young man, he started his own general cleanup business. He quickly became skillful in the operation, maintenance and repair of light and heavy equipment, such as mowers, power tools, dump trucks, tractors, etc. He later worked for Sunkist. Ultimately, all of Gene's passions and talents came together when he was hired by the CNUSD to be the Head Custodian for Victress Bower School, a school for students of all ages who have severe disabilities. Gene loved his work and considered it his special calling. He devoted 27 years of his life to maintaining Bower School to "Disneyland standards" and to helping students, staff and their families with extraordinary dedication and love. In 1991, he was voted by the District's maintenance trade workers to receive, from the District Superintendent, a special recognition award for being the "Outstanding Custodial Supervisor". Despite his strong work ethic, Gene managed to find time to enjoy his family and friends. He especially enjoyed outdoor activities, including fishing, camping, destination trips and just going for a drive to explore new places. Gene was a strong family man, whose relatives affectionately nicknamed him "Moggie". He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his large extended family and friends. He often could be seen picnicking and playing with his family on the Bower gamefield. Animals of all kinds were Gene's special friends. He enjoyed and humanely cared for the dogs, cats, birds, even skunks, raccoons and vultures that happened to stray onto the school grounds. He was always willing to use his multiple talents to help family, friends and even total strangers. Gene was a deeply spiritual, faith-based giant who devoted his time, talents and treasure to serving as the handyman for his church. Gene Jaso was truly a gentle, compassionate, hardworking, loving and spiritual man, who is already deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Gene is survived by his wife of 36 years, Adela Hernandez Jaso; son, Jesse Gene Jaso and daughter-in-law, Patty Martinez Jaso; grandsons, Jason Jaso and Joey "Diego" Jaso; daughter, Christina Marie (Jaso) Mauricio and son-in-law, Leslie Mauricio; granddaughter, Ellsie "Mae" on the way; brother, Clyde and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
