Eva Lee Howard Obituary
RICHARD ALAN HOWARD On June 5, 2016 Eva Lee Howard passed away at the age of 83 in Hemet, California. She was married to Richard Alan Howard for 37 years. On December 9, 2016 in the early morning hours, Richard (Dick) Alan Howard passed away at the age of 83 in Hemet, California. Those two devoted spirits are once again joined. Richard Howard was born in Hemet, CA on January 30, 1933 to Charles S. Howard Sr. and Leone S. Petersen-Howard. He was the younger brother to Charles S. Howard Jr. Richard's paternal grandparents were Charles W. Howard and Gertrude Stetson Howard, of The Howard Rose Company of Hemet. His maternal grandparents were Christian Petersen and Margaret Jordt Petersen. Charles Jr. and his son John Howard survive Richard. Dick graduated Class Secretary as a proud Hemet Bulldog in 1951. His partners in crime were the likes of Dick Gibbel, Russ Mathews, Hugh Towle, Dwight Webb, Bob Record, Jim Walsh, Derrel Henninger and Roger Johnson and too many to list. Eva attended Hemet High School also with Richard and fortunately both reconnected later in life. In college, Dick went to Redlands and Fresno and graduated from Davis in 1957. He was proud of being a Davis Aggie and remained friends with many. At Fresno, Dick met Henrietta Meyling and they married. They had two daughters, Constance Leigh (husband Dick) and Katherine Lynn (husband Randy) all of whom survive him. Richard is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren (with another 2 on the way that he knew about). After the first marriage ended, he had a chance encounter with Eva which sparked a love affair that lasted 37 years. Once they were married in 1979, they enjoyed spending their leisure time traveling and exploring the world. Places like Egypt, Greece, South Pacific, and Mexico. They enjoyed cruising the Caribbean with close friends, Joyce and Leonard Searl. They went to Mexico with many friends driving the red Jeepster, camping, fishing and generally enjoying local liquid spirits. Eva retired from Jack Gosh Ford and Richard retired from Eastern Municipal Water District. Even after retirement, Richard consulted EMWD on several big projects. He also was involved with a number of organizations, including the Exchange Club and the Hemet Jeep Calvacade. Richard spent many hours hitting a small white hard ball, trying to sink it into a small hole. Golf was something he enjoyed playing and socializing with many friends like Tom Hamblin. Richard was a part of the Hemet Community for decades including ushering at the Ramona Pagent. Richard leaves behind many friends too numerous to list. Eva had two children, Charles T. Midgley and Jana Midgley, both of whom survive her and Richard. Eva and Richard are also survived by Silvino Ponce, who they both loved dearly as a son. Miller Jones has been entrusted with Richard. He will be cremated and laid to rest next to his beloved Eva Lee. A memorial service will be held on December 20, 2016 at the Miller Jones Mortuary Chapel, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet, Ca. 92543 at 1 pm. Later, his children will privately inter his ashes.
