Evalyn Flake Obituary
EVALYN FLAKE, of Murrieta, CA, died Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Paradise II Board and Care. Born in La Junta, CO on August 7, 1924, Evalyn moved to Pomona from Pueblo, CO with her parents and six brothers and sisters in 1930 at the age of six years. Evalyn married Howard Flake August 31, 1947. Together they enjoyed traveling, often in Howard's small airplane, and golfing at both Red Hill Country Club while living in the Pomona Valley and Vista Valley Country Club after moving to Temecula. She also golfed with the women's golf clubs. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper in her husband's business, F&H Tire Co., Pomona, CA. Evalyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Grover Long, Sr., who was killed in action in WWII in 1944. She was then preceded by husband Howard, and her son Richard of San Antonio, TX, both in 2012. She leaves behind two sons, Grover Long of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Timothy Flake of Oxford, MS; a daughter, Valerie Rogers of Murrieta; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A service will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery.
