EVERETT JAMES CROSSLAND, SR. Age 88, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at The Village Health Care Center in Hemet, CA. He had been a resident of Hemet for 22 years. Everett was born February 16, 1924 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late Elmer R. Crossland and the late Lilly E. (Smith) Crossland. Everett served our country proudly in the Army Air Corps, serving in a forward heavy bomb group. He earned the American Theater Ribbon, Asia Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Silver Star and One Bronze Service Star. Serving in Luzon, Northern Solomons, Bismark-Archipelago, Southern Phillippines, New Guines and Northern Pacific campaigns. He was an autopilot technician and worked as a technician on the top secret Norton Bomb Sight. Everet was qualified as an expert on submachine gun and carbine. He was employed by Chevron for 39 years, finishing his career as a respected maintenance supervisor at the El Segundo refinery. Everett was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Hemet. He enjoyed photography, gardening, and traveled extensively. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Kathryn Claire Crossland. He will be missed by his daughter, Linda J. MacLean of Los Angeles, CA; two sons, Everett J. Crossland, Jr., his wife Judy of Fresno, CA; and Richard D. Crossland and his wife Cherie of Redmond, WA; and his brother: Rey & Bea Crossland of Gig Harbor, WA. His four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren will also miss him. Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory Hemet, 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA. Memorial service will be on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Southern Baptist Church located at 433 S. San Jacinto St., Hemet, CA. Interment will private be at Riverside National Cemetery.
