Fernando "John" Aleman Obituary
FERNANDO "JOHN" ALEMAN Fernando "John" Aleman of Riverside, CA passed away Monday afternoon, September 23, 2013 at his home with his wife Diane, children and family at his side. Fernando "John" was loved by all who knew him; he always cared for everyone in his circle of life. He always had a smile and hello for everyone he encountered. Fernando was the 10th of 12 children born to Fernando and Carmen Aleman in Glendale, Arizona. He was preceded by his brothers Roberto, Rafael, Alfredo and Alberto Enrique and Ramon and sisters Socorro, Beatrice, and Celia. The family moved from Arizona to southern California when Fernando was three months old. Fernando attended schools in Los Angeles and joined the Navy, although too young at the time, at the end of World War II and was on his way in a Navy tanker to join forces in Japan when Japan surrendered. He served in Guam and was discharged in August, 1946. He attended Chouinard Art Institute where he refined his skills in illustration and he worked for many years in sales for Crescent and Blue Seal Linen Supply companies as well as Broyhill Furniture Company. He also was self-employed for many years in textile rentals and building maintenance where he began to be known as "John" due to his business, John Eric Bldg. Maint. which was named after his son. In 1978 John married Diane Garrett, where they continued to reside Riverside, CA for over thirty-five years. He was an avid Lakers and Angels fan, loving to attend games. He love working in his yard and spending time in it. John is survived by his loving wife Diane; three children Theresa Thetford, Christine Aleman, John Aleman; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members Viewing will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 3rd at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, with a service to follow at 11:00 am and burial at Riverside National Cemetery immediately afterward.
