Obituary Condolences

FLETCHER LINWOOD JERNIGAN Chief Master Sergeant USAF (Retired) Age 83, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in Sampson County, North Carolina and was a resident of Moreno Valley since 1972. He proudly served his country for 30 years and was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran. He was active as a youth baseball and basketball coach for much of his adult life. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Lou Maxwell and Brenda Jernigan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Marie "Cookie" Jernigan; his son James M. Jernigan (Joline); grandchildren: Jason M. Jernigan, Jennifer M. Jernigan, Tyler M. Jernigan, S. Breanne Sobczyk and Matthew A. Sobczyk (Rachelle); great grandchildren: Kayla J. Sobczyk and Jackson R. Sobczyk; sisters: Elizabeth "Lib" Register and Virginia D. Matthews (Warren); brothers: James "Shorty" Jernigan (Shirley), Wallace L. Jernigan (Byrd) and Sherrill W. Jernigan (Alice); 47 nieces and nephews, countless friends.......and his loving dogs. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and the memorial service will be Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Jones Mortuary, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA. followed by a burial at Riverside National Cemetery.
