Florence Mary Riley Obituary
FLORENCE MARY RILEY, age 85, passed away on August 22, 2016 at her home. Born October 30, 1930 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She was an accomplished horsewoman who drove and raced harness horses as a young woman. She met her husband Jerry Riley (future Mayor of Norco), married on October 30, 1954 and shortly thereafter moved to Culver City, California where she worked as a drafter for the Telephone Company. Florence and Jerry moved to Norco in 1958, bought land and built their home. She was a founding member of St. Mel's Catholic Church and School, Catholic Daughter's of America, E.T.I. Corral 32, and Norco Valley Riders. She loved football and the Packers. She provided daycare to her grandchildren and taught herself to use a computer. She loved her family, she loved animals, and she loved Norco. Florence was predeceased by Jerry in 1977. She is survived by daughters Barbara (Max) Yamaguchi, and Kathy (Dave) Riley; sons Tom (Shelley) Riley, and Pat (Kristie) Riley; grandchildren Kelly (Chris) Wennersten, Megan (Darren) Young, Jeff Yamaguchi, Katie Yamaguchi, Nolan Riley, and Shelbie Riley; great-grandsons Bradley and Michael Wennersten and her horse Sammy. A mass will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mel's Catholic Church, 4140 Corona Ave., Norco followed by Graveside Service at Crestlawn Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m.
