Floyd L. "Speed" Foreman Obituary
FLOYD L. "SPEED" FOREMAN After 97 years, including 75 years of marriage to his beloved wife June, Floyd passed away on November 23, 2012. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois on October 8, 1915 to Louis and Lydia Foreman. Floyd was one of four boys. At a young age, during the depression, he left home to sing and strum his way across the country. Later he returned to Illinois where he performed at many mid-western state fairs, high schools, and other venues. On September 25, 1937 he married June E. Johnson. He continued to entertain on radio and early television for the next 25 years with western groups including "Pals of the Prairie", "Oklahoma Outlaws", and finishing his western style musical career at WHBF, Rock Island, Illinois with the "Buddies of the Airlanes - Pat, Speed, and Curly" in 1955. He continued to sing and strum for the next 55 years. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was honorably discharged. The Foremans moved to Riverside, CA in 1986. They were members of Grace Baptist Church, now Missio Dei Community Church. He loved his Lord. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, June; sons Donald and Randy; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild, all of the Riverside area. Services will be held at Missio Dei Community Church, 19310 Jesse Lane, Riverside 92508 on Tuesday, December 4 at 12:00. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 12:00 prior to the service. Interment service will be conducted at the Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Sierra Memorial Chapel Mortuary 951-687-0551
