FRANCES B. ARRES was born April 10, 1926 in Indian Canyon on the Soboba Indian Reservation and passed away on December 23, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was a lifelong resident of the Soboba Indian Reservation and the oldest elder of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians tribe. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years before retiring. Frances was a strong woman with a generous soul who loved her family. She led a very active life attending birthday parties, sporting and school events, community events and the casino, rain or shine. She loved bowling and was a member of Daisy Mae Trio Bowling League for 20 plus years. She was an active member of the Soboba Elders Group attending trips, activities and monthly luncheons. She faithfully attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Soboba. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Bentiste and Lucy Apapas Silvas; husband, Norbit Arres; sons David Bentiste and Norbert Arres Jr.; grandchildren, Gordon Arres Jr., Joseph Arres, William "Dusty" Rhodes, Duran Kitchen and great grandchild Nizhoni Arres; sisters, Mary Hurtado and Lillian Miranda; and brothers, Ernest Salgado Sr. and Robert Bentiste. She is survived by her sister, Alice Helms; brothers, Henry Bentiste, Manuel Bentiste, and William Bentiste; daughters, Carlene Masiel, Victoria Arres, Marilyn Arres, Betty Arres and Millie Arres; sons, Anthony Bentiste, Gordon Arres and Fred Arres. Her family included 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly. Rosary Services will be at Inland Memorial Harford Chapel, 120 North Buena Vista Street, Hemet CA 92543 on Monday, January 4 with a Viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m. and a 10 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, January 5 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 23600 Soboba Road, Soboba Indian Reservation. Burial will be at the Soboba Cemetery.
