Francis E. "Frank" Jones Jr. Obituary
FRANCIS "FRANK" E. JONES, JR. Frank passed away peacefully at his home at Sun Lakes Country Club, Banning, CA, with his wife Erika by his side on December 22, 2012. Frank was born in Hartford Connecticut on May 17, 1920 An avid singer and entertainer, Frank was the founder of the premier A Capella group, The Georgetown Chimes, who are still going strong. As a young man at Georgetown Law School he studied under the great Edward Bennett Williams who he later beat in court, helping to deport the mob boss Frank Costello. At age 24, during WWII, Frank Jones was a Captain in the US Army, serving 5 years. He was a Yale graduate (1942), earned his Juris Doctor at Georgetown Law School in 1948. Frank was a Law Professor at USC for over 30 years and taught at a few other institutions. A strong tenor, Frank enjoyed singing with his friends, family and wife, Erika. He is survived by his wife, Erika; step children, Ralph Burton, Carola Roufs; his grandchildren, Anthony Garcia, Laurel, Benjamin, Rebecca and Melissa Burton; and three sons, Francis, Andrew and Maurice Jones. A celebration of life for Frank Jones will be held at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at 12pm.
