Francis John "Frank" Hallas Obituary
FRANCIS JOHN "FRANK" HALLAS Age 69, of Moreno Valley, CA, died peacefully at home Friday, August 1, 2014 surrounded by his beloved family and pets. Frank was born to Helen Zidiack and John Hallas (both deceased) on August 4, 1944 in Palmerton, PA. He attended Central Catholic High School in Allentown, PA and joined the U.S. Marines after graduation. He proudly served his country from 1963 to 1967 and fought bravely in the Viet Nam War, earning a Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation. After discharge, Frank relocated to Las Vegas, NV where he met the love of his life, Kathleen DeAguilar. He married Kathleen July 28, 1977 and became an instant daddy to Margarita. Frank and family permanently relocated to California in 1978; he has been a resident of Moreno Valley since 1982. He worked for Aerojet Ordinance Company then later for Nutrilite Products, Inc as an electrician; while working, he completed undergrad and earned an MBA. He retired in 2007. Frank loved a hearty laugh, a good vodka, gatherings with friends and family and riding his Harley. He gave excellent advice, told great stories, refrained from judgment and loved all with an open and generous heart. A man of faith, Frank was a parishioner of St. Christopher Church who prayed daily and was devoted to our Lord; he was not afraid to share his faith. Frank will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Margarita (Todd) Fasbender of Moreno Valley; and grandchildren, LeRoy, Emilia, David, Logan, Alexandria and Gavin. He is further survived by his aunt, Mary Saas of Slatington, PA and brother, Kevin (Denise) Barratt of Las Vegas, NV. Cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and numerous "adopted" children and grandchildren will also feel the loss. Visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm on Thursday, August 7 at Arlington Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church at 10am on Friday, August 8 followed by burial with military honors at Riverside National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
