Francis M. Dale Obituary
FRANCIS MARIAN DALE, born July 10, 1924 in Loma Linda, CA. Fourth of five children born to Benjamin and Mary Dale. Francis passed away August 28, 2015. His wife of 39 years, Auriel "Pete" Blanch Dale, passed away January 17, 1994. Named after his grandfather, Francis was a life-long resident of Riverside, CA and an active member of the community. He attended St. Francis de Sales and graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 1943, and was also a member of the Class Reunion Committee. In his younger days he was considered a rebel, and didn't want to join the family printing business. He spent many a day during his youth enjoying the Corona Del Mar and the Newport Beach communities. Eventually he joined the family business, A to Z Printing Company, established in 1921 by his father, and left for Pressman School in Tennessee to learn offset printing. Rising to Vice President, he led the company proudly for over 35 years. He enjoyed the process of stripping film and burning plates for the offset presses. Francis and Auriel loved taking the family camping and motorcycle riding in Desert Hot Springs. They would ride out to their favorite dive called the Hootenanny and have a burger and a beer. Francis favorite sport was snow skiing and he was very proud to be a stock holder in Snow Summit Ski Corporation where the family skied for many years. He loved listening to jazz bands, and would attend jazz festivals all over California. Along the way, he would stop and visit with family and friends. Francis loved driving and collecting vehicles. He had a passion for collecting Model A's, Volkswagens, and convertibles. Later in life, while at a class reunion, Francis met up with an old acquaintance from Poly High School, Mary Snyder. They became close companions, and for the next seventeen years, they enjoyed traveling, attending shows, vacations, and numerous family celebrations together. Francis was an advisory board member of the printing program at RCC, and a Life Member of the world famous Academy of Magical Arts at the Magic Castle in North Hollywood where he enjoyed giving passes to his friends and family. Francis was a proud member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, as well as a Charter Member of Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association, where this September he was to receive his 23rd Wagon Master Award. Francis is survived by his sister Cathy Wagner; his four children, William, Steven, Leslie and Allison; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association, Goffs Schoolhouse - 37198 Lanfair Rd., G15, Essex, CA 92332. Memorial to be held at St. Andrews Newman Center, 105 W. Big Springs Rd. Riverside, Ca 92507 on September 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with reception immediately following. Arrangements Entrusted to the Care of 9695 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92503 (951) 785-4071. Please go to www.akesfamilyfuneralhome.com and sign the guest book.
