Genie La Preal Anderson Obituary
GENIE LA PREAL ANDERSON Gene (Genie) La Preal Anderson, 69 years old, of Newport Beach, CA, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Genie was born July 12, 1946 in New Orleans, LA. She was known for her love of family, animals, friends, the ocean, great food, her garden, ridiculous joke-telling and her effervescent spirit. Genie was a special soul warm-hearted, giving, sincere, and witty; a great mother, an even better friend and a haven for many stray animals. As a single mother most of her life, she sacrificed so much for her children Greg Anderson, Kristin Staudenmaier and Tracy Dallarda, who are forever grateful for her love as their mother and best friend. Genie worked for the law firm of Best Best & Krieger in Riverside, CA for twenty years as a Data Processing Manager before moving on to Iron Mountain and settling in Newport Beach. Her time with Iron Mountain took her all over the country for another 12 years where she gained many friends before her retirement in 2012. Genie was diagnosed with cancer in April 2015, which spread quickly even after months of aggressive treatment. We are grateful for the compassionate, skilled care by her physicians and nurses at St. Joseph Cancer Center in Orange and special care from Nurse Rowena with Silverado Hospice. Her strength, courage and grace throughout her treatment was an inspiration to many and without comparison. She will never be forgotten and is deeply missed. The legacy left by Genie is carried on by her loving children Greg (Norma), Kristin (Frank) and Tracy; by her parents William and Eleanor Brown, her sister Joanne Brown, brother Jim Brown (Patty), her nieces Yukimi, Suzanne and Jaime and her beloved grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Josh), Cameron, Connor (Nina), Grace, Carson, MacKenzie, Madelaine, and Caroline; great-granddaughter, Paisley and her furry family Bailey and Sammy. She has left many hearts broken, but memories of love and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. Genie's Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Friday March 25 at 1 p.m. at The Hacienda, 1725 College Avenue in Santa Ana, CA. Guests are encouraged to wear one of Genie's favorite colors: blue or purple.
