George S. Ritzau Obituary
GEORGE S. RITZAU finished his life on February 7, 2015 at home in Banning, CA. He lived 90 years, and considered his life blessed. He was, by every account, a good man. He was honest, straightforward, compassionate and filled with humor. He was born and grew up in San Francisco, CA but was a resident of Riverside, CA from 1962 until his move to Banning. During his life, he was a WWII Army combat medic in Germany, a graduate of Stanford University, and spent much of his working life in commercial real estate and shopping center management. He believed his greatest accomplishments were his family whom he loved without reservation. He is survived by his wife Paula Ritzau and his children Sue (Tim) Farley, Jan (Mark) Wiley, Bob (Gwen) Ritzau and Lisa (Tony) Masi and stepchildren Karen (Mitch) Wesche and Rick Filer. He was predeceased by wife Anne Ritzau and sister Betty van de Sande. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 5 great granddaughters, nieces, nephews and many friends. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 21 at 9:55 a.m. at Banning United Methodist Church, 235 N. Second Street, Banning, CA with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a scholarship at Riverside Community College District payable to: RCCD Foundation / George Ritzau Scholarship, 4800 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506.
