Geraldine Ann Severns Obituary
GERALDINE ANN SEVERNS Gerry passed away in the evening on June 20th, 2013 after her lengthy battle with lung cancer. Gerry was born December 21, 1942 in Painesville, Ohio to Harold E. & Harriett Fairchild. She grew up in the Hemet community and graduated from Hemet High School, then went on to earn her nursing degree with a minor in Business in Fullerton, CA. She was very active while attending school and she had a wide span of interests that included being an accomplished accordion player, a girl scout, and an Honor Queen with Jobs daughters. She married Robert W. Severns Jr. in 1962 in Hemet, CA. They were selected by the Hemet News as the June Couple and were treated as celebrities throughout the city. They recently celebrated 50 years together in 2012 with a small family celebration. They have 2 sons, Robert W. Severns III (Heather) of Riverside, CA and Jon E. Severns (Kristy) of San Jacinto, CA. She has five wonderful grandkids, Dalton C. Severns (20) and Sienna A. Severns (15), Zac, Skyler, and Hannah. Her grandkids were the loves of her life. Gerry enjoyed her years as a wife, sports mom/grandmother and a band grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family, especially at the beach; she was an avid gardener, and enjoyed collecting and maintaining her antique clocks. Gerry also loved the adrenaline rush from driving her speed boat to riding Montezuma's Revenge at Knott's Berry Farm. She was also Aunt Gerry to many family members, but most of all she had loving relationships with her family and friends. Gerry worked at EMWD for 5 years then became a stay-at-home mom while the boys progressed through their formative years. She then ventured into business, first, as an Electrolux sales person. Next, she became an Executive Director for In-Home Convalescent Care for several years. Finally, in 1987, she obtained her goal and became a business owner with State Farm Insurance Company as an Agent. The agency thrived with the help of her wonderful staff Bonnie & Elizabeth, until her passing. She was presented with numerous sales achievement awards throughout the years due to her passion and commitment in making a positive difference in peoples lives, both on personal and business levels. Gerry is survived by her ever loving husband Bob Jr. and sons Bob III and Jon; grandchildren Dalton, Sienna, Zac, Skyler, and Hannah. She is also survived by her brother John C. Fairchild (Blanca) of Lodi, CA, as well as numerous cousins throughout the United States. Celebration of Gerry's life will be held at noon, June 29th at the Hemet Valley Mortuary located at 403 W. San Jacinto St. In Hemet. www.hemetvalleymortuary.com Reception to immediately follow. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Matthew McWane, Director
