January 2, 1923 - December 12, 2018 Gertrude was born on January 2, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the second child born to Sylvia and Max Ellman; their first child was her older brother Leo. Gertrude attended Hyde Park High School in Chicago where she graduated in 1941. After graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary at an embroidery firm where she met the love of her life. In 1946, she married Norman Field and they celebrated a wonderful and loving marriage for 59 years, until Norman's passing in 2005. Gertrude and Norman were blessed with two children, Michele and Jeffrey. They lived in Panorama City, California for 48 years until they moved to Leisure World in Laguna Woods, California in 1994, where they enjoyed ten plus wonderful years in this beautiful beach community, relishing all that their new retirement life had to offer.
