GERTRUDE "TRUDY" LUISE GOEPPINGER
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Trudy passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on October 28, 2017 at the age of 94. Her blessed and happy life began in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Chicago Park, California where she lived on the family ranch with her parents Gertrude and Edward Blum and her five siblings.
During World War II, she lived in San Francisco and worked as a secretary at the Hunter Point Naval Yard. After moving to Southern California in 1949, she met Edward J. Goeppinger at First Lutheran Church of Pasadena and they were married in 1952, beginning their 65 years of marriage. They lived in Riverside, California where Ed worked as one of the early employees of Bourns, Inc. and one of their corporate officers. They were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church where Trudy worked as a secretary and participated in many church related activities.
Throughout her life, Trudy was known for her artistic and creative pursuits. Many of her family and friends enjoy her artistic creations whether they were sewn, painted, knitted, crocheted, quilted, tole painted, etc. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing many areas of the United States and Europe.
Trudy is survived by her loving husband Ed; daughter Jane and her husband Vit; grandson Tomas and his wife Maggie; step-grandson Vit Jr. and his wife Jana and daughter Nicole. She is also survived by sisters Margaret and Elaine, Elaine's husband Phil, and numerous dear nieces and nephews along with their families.
A memorial service celebrating Trudy's life will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 11:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5455 Alessandro Blvd., Riverside, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to Immanuel Lutheran Church endowment fund.
