Gilbert Carreon Jr. Obituary
GILBERT CARREON JR. Gilbert Carreon Jr., beloved son of Gilbert Sr. and Mary Lou Carreon, entered into eternal rest on November 23, 2013 in Riverside, CA. Gil, as he was known to everyone, was born in Silver City, New Mexico on June 23, 1958. He attended schools in Anahein and Hemet, CA and finished his schooling at California State University, Fullerton. After college he joined the City of Orange Police Department where he worked for thirty-three years in communications and as a hostage negotiator. His dedication to his work was well known by his fellow officers, who respected his abilities to be in control in any situation. Those left to mourn his passing, besides his parents, include his three children Naomi, Gilbert III, and Gina Carreon. He was preceded in death by his sister Elva Cheng. Despite his many challenges, he always enbodied life with a lighthearted attitude, finding humor in every situation. His passion for Pontiacs led him to amass the largest known Firebird toy car collection and an impressive collection of vehicles that he enjoyed taking to car shows, for which he won countless awards. He enjoyed life to the fullest, taking in many concerts, comedy shows and basketball games. He also enjoyed cruising in his Firebirds up and down the coast, the ocean breeze lifting his spirit and lessening his constant pain. He will be forever missed by all who knew him and will always live in our hearts. Services will include a viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. with the rosary starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4th at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 West Florida Ave., Hemet, CA, and a mass of resurrection on Thursday, December 5th at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 26340 /soboba St., Hemet, CA 92544, and a burial at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery, 2555 Santa Fe ave., San Jacito, CA.
