Gladys Campbell Neal Obituary
GLADYS CAMPBELL NEAL, 98, of Victorville, CA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2014. She was born in Maryville, TN on June 7, 1915 to J. Henry and Nola Mae Willocks Campbell. She was preceded in death by husband Harold W. Neal; brothers: Clifford, Clay, Herald and Gerald Campbell. She is survived by her four children: Kenneth (Betty) Neal, Jerry (Sharon) Neal, Mary Ann (Fred) Brandenburg, John (Anne) Neal. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren: Debbie Purnell, Darren Brandenburg, Jeffrey Neal, Julie Neal (Steve) Kastrinos, Lorraine Neal, John Neal Jr., Barbie Gigel, Jaray(Gene) Thronburg and John Neal. There are also six great grandchildren. She was baptized at First Baptist Church of Maryville. She lived in Alcoa and attended Calvary Baptist Church before moving to California in 1944. She and her family briefly moved to Tennessee in 1952-1954, living in Knoxville and Cleveland before relocating back to California. She cherished her visits with family and friends alike. She was an avid fan of her beloved Los Angeles Lakers. She was the oldest living alumni of Alcoa High School, graduating in 1933. Over the years, she enjoyed planning and making trips to visit family and friends in Tennessee. She was extremely outgoing, personable and with her warm heart, able to quickly turn strangers into close friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Pierce Bros. Crestlawn Memorial Park & Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave., Riverside, CA. 92505, Dr. G.W. Squyres, officiating.
